Chris Ploof

Chris Ploof grew up in a small town in Massachusetts, spending most of his time at the local living history museum, watching artists manipulate seemingly unyielding mediums like glass, tin, and iron. Years later, after traveling the world, the artist returned to his childhood roots and began taking jewelry production classes. There, he learned the basics of metal-smithing, and eventually began his own line of alternative-metal fine jewelry. Ploof's work has a simple elegance, showcasing the unique materials (such as meteorite and Damascus steel) he has chosen to create his memorable designs. The artist works from his comprehensive array of skills and interests in historical styles and methods, challenging himself to explore new techniques in jewelry creation. He states, "The best discoveries come from the greatest mistakes." Ploof continues to create and design at his studio in Massachusetts.
